2022 Projects

2020 and 2021 proved to be a challenging years for everyone. Luckily, the Friends of South Fork has been able to find ways to a make a difference in the South Fork community. Here are just a few things we have been able to accomplish so far:

  • Donated money to the Town of South Fork to help purchase a skate shack for the Ice Skating rink.

    • This allowed for skaters to be able to get their skates on in a lighted, warmed building prior to getting on the ice.

  • Donated to the 25% off Dine in South Fork Program.

    • South Fork restaurants took a hard hit in March during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Town of South Fork, the South Fork Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of South Fork partnered together to assist our local restaurants during the unprecedented time. The restaurants that participated were asked to provide their customers with a 25% discount on their meals and the restaurants would be reimbursed by the three organizations. The program proved to be a success as we brought in locals from all over the San Luis Valley and Pagosa Springs area to eat in South Fork.

  • We have purchased additional lights for the trees at the South Fork Visitors Center for our Annual Yuletide Festival.

    • Since the Yuletide Tree Lighting is the Friends of South Fork's signature event, we intend to maintain and expand on their existing beauty. Yuletide brings holiday joy to locals and visitors alike.

The Friends of South Fork has also taken a leap to make an even larger impact on the amazing community we live in! We are working to partner with the Greater South Fork Community Foundation in order to bring even bigger changes to South Fork.
